About This Project

I am a photographer living and working in San Francisco, California. Currently, I am working on my second book and, in this blog, intend to chronicle my work on the project.

The working title of the project is Time, Place, Manner. This is in reference to the legal term of art for government restriction of protests, parades and other public exercises of First Amendment activity. For example, a municipality may regulate the time, place and manner of a demonstration but it may not censure the content. Accordingly, the photographs in this project shall be conceptually unified by the depiction of First Amendment activity like protests, parades, public gatherings, etc.

I have been shooting photographs for the project for nearly a year. As I work through the images and select possible ones for the book, I will post those on this blog for review.

I also intend to supplement the photographs with writings and essays concerning photography and the First Amendment.
